Course Blog

Course blog is mostly self-policed by student for discussing problems.

“I think students have done enough that I don’t even need to address it. So I think it’s not necessarily hindering anyone that I’m not actively engaged in it. I think it’s probably better that the other students are the ones answering.”

Sometimes instructor need to encourage students to use the blog more often.

“I’m concerned about having students log in to see the blog because I don’t feel that the blog is a natural thing for them yet. They’ve really never had it in any other course.”    –Instructor & Freeform Developer

“I have been encouraging them to use the blog, and I told them that I give them a few points at the end of the semester, if I see their name is on the blog. I’ve been following the blog and noticed that only maybe a handful of people are getting on the blog, so I’ve been trying to encourage them to get on the blog. Try to take advantage of the technology.”

“It’s the type of tool that I think, if it reaches a critical mass where enough people are posting things, getting answers. Instructors are going in and putting comments. I think that’s a really strong power of the Freeform that students use. I think it’s probably actually new to them (students). I don’t think it would challenge them, but I actually think it would help them and the student culture.”
